Mumbai is the second largest city of India. Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra, and its temples, cathedrals and mosques are famous across the world. Ajanta and Ellora Tour will take us to some of the greatest temples as well as to the caves of India. Ajanta and Ellora Caves symbolize the art and sculptures of Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism, these are the three dominant religions of India. These caves are the part of world heritage monuments.
Travel Itinerary
Day 01: Flight to India (Mumbai)
Arrival at Mumbai Airport by international flight. After a warm welcome our representative would assist you at the airport and will make your transfer to our hotel for check- in and overnight stay.
Day 02: Mumbai
we will drive to Elephanta Caves in the morning. In Mumbai, we will take a walk through the harbor area and visit the Gateway of India built in 1927 by the British to commemorate the visit of George 5th from England. Our sightseeing in Mumbai comprises the Gandhi Museum, Hanging Gardens.
Day 03: Mumbai - Aurangabad (by air) - Ellora Caves - Aurangabad
In the morning we shall move to the airport for the flight to Aurangabad. After taking a short break we'll start an excursion to Ellora Caves (7th - 10th century AD). The magnificent group of rock temples of Ellora are a part of world heritage monuments. Ellora group of temples symbolizes the art and sculptures of Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism, the three dominant religions of India.
Day 04: Aurangabad - Ajanta Caves - Aurangabad
After having breakfast we leave for Ajanta caves (around 100 km). Of the thirty monuments at Ajanta, four caves No 9,10,26 and 29 are sanctuaries or Chaitya containing a Stupa at the centre of their apses. The rest are monastic homes or Viharas. An Indian poet Kalidasa explained these caves as the gem set of jewellery, rich furniture, imposing architecture, natural scenery and fleeting expressions on the faces.
Day 05: Aurangabad - Hyderabad
In the morning after having breakfast we shall drive from Aurangabad to Hyderabad. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel. Evening free for leisure.
Day 06: Hyderabad
Today we will have sightseeing in Hyderabad. We will visit Char Minar, Salarjung Museum and walk by the bazaars.
Day 07: Hyderabad - Gulbarga (via Bidar)
In the morning after having the breakfast we will explore the Golconda fort dating back to the 13th century. Then we will drive to Gulbarga via Bidar. At Bidar we will visit with Rangin Mahal, Sola Kamabah Masjid and the Gagan Mahal.
Day 08: Gulbarga - Bijapur
In the morning we will visit Gulbarga a matchless synthesis of two cultures. Then we will visit the Fort. In the afternoon after having lunch we leave for Bijapur. We shall have an overnight stay at Bijapur.
Day 09: Bijapur - Badami
In the morning we shall visit Gol Gumbaza. Gol Gumbaza is the first thing that is related with the city of Bijapur. Then we shall visit Ibrahim Roza, Jumma Masjid. Later we will drive down to Badami. Enroute we shall visit Aihole famous as the "cradle of Indian architecture", Aihole has over 100 temples scattered around the village. By the evening we will reach Badami. Badami is known for it's four cave temples.
Day 10: Badami - Hospet
In the morning we shall visit cave temples. Then we shall leave for Hopset and enroute stop at Pattadakal. Pattadakal is located on the banks of the Malaprabha River and has ten major temples representing early Chalukyan architecture. in the evening we will arrive in Hospet.
Day 11: Hospet - Hampi - Hospet
This day we will take a tour of Hampi or Vijayanagara, the largest empires in the history of India - in ruins. Then we will explore the destroyed kingdom and return back to Hospet.
Day 12: Hospet - Mumbai
In the morning we shall drive to Mumbai. upon arrival in Mumbai, you will be transferred to the hotel. Accomodation is provided to get fresh and change before we depart for the airport with the Leisure wings representative. Rest of the day is at leisure.
